Greene County deputies responded to the Traditions neighborhood off Carey Station Road near Lake Oconee Academy to investigate multiple theft complaints and entering autos on June 30. According to reports, deputies found several vehicles that had been broken into.
According to reports, deputies found several broken-in vehicles, and area residents reported several missing items.
A bicycle was taken from the porch of one residence. Still, the homeowner was able to provide deputies with photos and videos of several subjects removing the bicycle taken by a doorbell camera. One of the thieves looked straight into the camera.
According to a press release issued July 1 by the GCSO, Lt. Brian Moore, a GCSO investigator, was contacted and arrived shortly after to continue the investigation.
Area residents said GCSO personnel were on the scene in a timely manner.
Moore obtained several videos and photographs of the suspects. The videos showed four male subjects walking around vehicles while checking the doors to see if they were left unlocked.
During the initial investigation, Moore met with several victims and was also informed of a stolen and abandoned vehicle on Lake Oconee Parkway. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been involved in this incident.
Moore was able to gather evidence, which led to a juvenile's detention for his involvement in the incident. This is still an active, ongoing investigation, and if anyone has any further information concerning the other individuals involved, please contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
