Madison man arrested on meth trafficking charges

MORGAN COUNTY

After a month-long investigation, a Madison man was arrested on drug charges Feb. 15 following a traffic stop on Larkmartin Street in the Beacon Heights neighborhood.

Joshua Dean Futch, 45, of Madison faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According Lt. Joseph Pritchett, as investigator with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Futch was pulled over and found to be in possession of 3.4 ounces of methamphetamine.

Pritchett said possessing anything more than one ounce of methamphetamine is considered trafficking. Futch also had a pistol and a stack of 100 dollar bills. The street value of the methamphetamine Futch had was estimated to be approximately $1,000. 

Investigators Sgt. Chad Lanier and Sgt. Chase Young assisted Pritchett with the arrest of Futch. The investigation is ongoing.
