Greensboro man arrested after giving a false name to a deputy

GREENE COUNTY

A Greensboro man who brought cognac and marijuana with him to the Lake Oconee Academy campus on Valentine’s Day was arrested by a Greene County deputy and ultimately charged with giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

Zeddwick Lamar Twilley, 34, also had an outstanding warrant out of Putnam County.

According to reports, Deputy Jonathan Franco was contacted by athletic director Chris Ingle of Lake Oconee Academy and advised that a witness had reported the smell of marijuana coming from a car in the pickup/dropoff line. The witness said she also observed a bottle of liquor in the backseat.

Franco was given a description of the vehicle and later saw it traveling toward building 700. He ran the tag on his mobile data terminal and learned the vehicle did not have valid insurance.

Deputy Franco then activated his emergency lights and conducted a stop on the vehicle. Franco’s report recounts the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle when he approached it.

Franco asked the driver for his license and advised him the reason he was being stopped was because his vehicle came back with no valid insurance.

The driver advised that he did not have his license with him and gave the deputy the name Zedwitk Waller. Upon running that name through dispatch, Franco learned there was no record of the driver.

Franco then asked the driver to step out of the vehicle asked the driver several times if the name was spelled correctly and the driver said "yes."

Deputy Franco also asked the driver if he had a valid license, and he said "yes." At length the driver told Franco that Zedwitk Waller was not his correct name and that he had a warrant out of Putnam County. He said his real name was Zeddwick Twilley.

Upon running the drivers real name, Franco was told that Twilley did indeed have a warrant out of Putnam County for probation violation.

Putnam County placed a hold on Twilley, and he was placed under arrest. Upon Deputy Matthew Cowdrey’s arrival, Franco began a search of the vehicle and located a marijuana roach on the middle compartment and a half full bottle of Cognac in the backseat.

Also, in the middle compartment, there was a glass container with marijuana residue.

Twilley was transported to the Greene County Jail and turned over to staff with no incident. The marijuana roach was placed in the evidence box. The bottle of cognac and glass container were disposed of.
