In a called meeting last week, Greene County Commissioners announced a decrease in the millage rate.
Greene County continues to grow, and with that comes more revenue to pay for the county’s operational and infrastructure costs.
The new rate set last week is 4.321 mills and reflects a local sales option tax rollback.
This represents a 12-percent decrease from last year’s rate of 4.895. Of note is the fact that the millage rate for Greene County has continued to drop for the last seven years, showing a dedicated effort to respond to a wealthy tax base in the county.
As an example, the corridor of Dell Webb, Reynolds, and The Landing reflects a tax rate of 15.253, a 2.615 discount. Overall, for other taxing districts, the drop in the millage rate ranged from 1.955 percent to 2.615.
The Greene County Board of Education announced a millage rate of 10.311, a difference of 1.337 percent, last week.
According to Commissioner Ernie Filice, the decreased rate is a response to ever-growing needs and improvements to the county while maintaining a stable tax for residents.
“We remain committed to providing the best services to our constituents,” Filice said. “As Greene County continues to grow, we remain as a group of commissioners accountable for attention to tax rates, city services and the needs of the community.”
