MORGAN COUNTY
Keith Howard, who serves as the chief deputy of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, has served in the United States Army, worked with the GBI and trained law enforcement officers at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth.
But his next role may be his toughest yet – that of a fashion model.
Howard will participate in the inaugural What They Were Wearing Fashion Show on March 16 to be held at the Akademia Brewing Company at 150 Crane Dr. in Athens.
The fundraiser will highlight the latest spring fashions from local boutiques and retail stores in the Northeast Georgia region, while simultaneously raising funds to benefit sexual assault survivors and SANE, Inc. The evening includes a runway show showcasing the latest spring fashions. Additionally, there will be an exciting silent auction full of luxurious items from local businesses.
SANE provides forensic examinations and evidence collection, court testimony, and community prevention and education services related to rape, sexual assault, and physical assault to survivors.
According to Howard, no victim should have to pay for examinations, which can cost as much as $1,500.
“Because Mama always told me that I had the perfect face for radio, I consider it an honor that I’m being asked to participate in the What They Were Wearing Fashion Show,” Howard said.
Howard has always been devoted to victim-centric services and has spent 34 years pursuing justice for survivors of sexual abuse, from creating specific lessons related to serial sex offenders that include responding to sexual assaults on campuses, coordinating anti-child-abuse specialists, or interviewing the world’s most prolific serial murderer, Samuel Little.
In 2022, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office worked in collaboration with Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit partners, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and SANE, Inc./ Anchor Point to establish the Family Protection Center in Morgan County.
