Halloween is around the corner, and the Bulldog Pumpkin Patch in front of Morgan County Middle School has all the pumpkins — from the minis to the “spookies.”
The pumpkin patch, known as Lake Country’s premier pumpkin destination, offers a variety of pumpkins and gourds at different sizes and price points. All proceeds go to the Morgan County Charter Schools basketball program.
The fundraiser, started three years ago by the Morgan County Tip-off Club, has quickly become the basketball program’s largest fundraiser.
“It just keeps getting bigger and better in terms of participation,” middle school girls basketball coach Tweety Hawkins said.
She said the fundraiser alleviates the pressure off parents and gives coaches wiggle room to purchase items that make their program thrive.
“When we started this three years ago, we had no idea what to expect,” Tip-off Club president Lindsay Peaster added. “We love it because so many people are involved in its success. For example, the art students at the high school create photo-ops for us each year; the engineering department works on the braces for the photo-ops; the Future Educators lead fall festivals for preschool programs; and some of our small-group classes at the middle and high schools help to prepare the snacks for the field trips. It is truly a community effort. We are so grateful for the support of the school system and our community for making this a successful fundraiser, and we hope to continue it for many years to come!”
Peaster said the Tip-off Club has added porch delivery and decoration this year, which has excited many businesses and residents.
The club hopes to expand the delivery and decoration component next year. For more information, those interested in delivery can contact 706-818-0675.
The Bulldog Pumpkin Patch is open through Oct. 31; hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Pumpkins and gourds are being restocked this week to ensure a plentiful, fresh supply for Halloween.
