What: Crime and Wine experience When: 7 p.m. Where: Georgia Writers Museum, 109 S. Jefferson St., Eatonton More Info: Directed by Emmy-winning crime scene investigator Sheryl McCollum, each night attendees will attempt to solve real cold cases using a special “murder box.” McCollum is the author of Cold Case: Pathways to Justice and the founder/director of Cold Case Investigative Research Institute. $45 fee; contact GWM at georgiawritersmuseum.org to register. More info: Come for a hay ride ($5 each), but make sure to visit the onsite store featuring farm-fresh honey, pecans, pumpkins and goat milk, as well as handicrafts and tea supplies. Jefferson St.; Eatonton More Info: Denise Rolfe, author of Ghosts and Legends of Charleston and director of the Southeastern Institute of Paranormal Research will lead paranormal investigations of several locations across downtown Eatonton. What: Craft Days When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Eatonton-Putnam County Library More info: 706-485-6768 What: Fall at Stepback When: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Where: Stepback, 176 Dennis Station Rd., Eatonton More info: Come celebrate the fall season at Stepback, an 1850 to early- 1900s community featuring working demonstrations at a sawmill, blacksmith shop, grist mill, water-wheel mill, and syrup shed. Tour the Stepback village furnished throughout with period antiques and chat with the general store manager, the schoolmarm, the miller and his wife. Also enjoy old-time singing in the church, cross-cut sawing, complimentary refreshments, and yes, the boiled peanut man will be there, too.
