Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club holds BBQ fest

The Farm at Lake Oconee was teeming with a big crowd who all came out in support of Greensboro’s leading charitable organization, the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club. Held on Father’s Day, the event was supported by many key sponsors and included many of Greensboro’s businesses and specialty vendors.

Putnam County’s sizable Black community turned out in full force June 17, for the inaugural Juneteenth Parade and Festival, first on the streets of downtown Eatonton, then moving to the recently spruced-up Jimmy Davis Park.

K9 Angels to join Stars, Stripes and Smiles free day of dentistry

The K9 Angels will once again be joining Lake Oconee Dentistry and Lake Oconee Oral Surgery for Stars, Stripes & Smiles on Friday, June 23. Stars, Stripes & Smiles is an annual free day of dentistry for active and retired military, as well as law enforcement, firefighters, DNR and EMS personnel.

Remembering the Pex Theater

As Eatonton residents await the second “grand opening” of the beloved PEX Theater in downtown Eatonton, the Old School History Museum decided to visit Susan Peck Park and hear stories of the theater that only she would know. Susan is the granddaughter of John Peck Jr.

The Plaza screens ‘Steffen Thomas: Rock & Chisel’

“Art is dynamite.” Those were the first words to flash across the screen last Thursday night at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton, to start a one-time presentation of “Rock & Chisel,” a bio-documentary of famed sculptor and painter Steffen Thomas.
