The Greene County School System (GCSS) has named six 8th grade students to this year’s class of REACH Georgia Scholarship recipients.

Thillen Foundation receives Weyerhaeuser grant

The Thillen Education Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund in support of its unique career coaching program in partnership with Greene College & Career Academy at Greene County High School (GCHS).

Five schools – Piedmont, Brentwood, Monsignor Donovan, Westminster, and Gatewood – competed in the Literary Region AA One-Act Competition, on Nov. 1 at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton.

Haunted Eatonton tours scare up ‘spooky good’ times

In the spirit of Halloween, the Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) and the Arts Barn joined together to put on this year’s Haunted Eatonton ghost tours. Tours were held Oct. 27, 28, and 30, with multiple groups going out each night at sundown.

PAPA prepares for 12 Angry Jurors

The Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) has been working hard to bring to life 12 Angry Jurors on Nov. 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 12 and 19 at 3 p.m. at The Plaza Arts Center. Please note no Saturday performances are scheduled.

The final performance for 2023 from The Jazz Legacy Project at Festival Hall in Greensboro, featured the life, times, and music of jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk, who was born in 1917 at Rocky Mount, N.C.
