The Plaza celebrates 2023 success

The mission for The Plaza Arts Center has remained the same for the past 15 years and will continue in the future: striving to bring quality entertainment to Eatonton and its surrounding communities and impacting area youth by giving them opportunities to learn about the arts.

Santa’s Secret Workshop

The members of Phoenix Homemakers of Eatonton have been providing a Santa's Secret Shop at the Putnam County Primary School to allow children who might not be able to get Christmas gifts for their parents or guardians to shop for those gifts.

Movie Review: Wonka

This past weekend was about whimsical feelings and cheer, which is why my family and I went to see Wonka. Wonka is a movie showing the origins of the Wonka candy factory that we all know. It takes us through the story of a young son of a baker who grew up to make a promise to his mother come true.

GCSO hosts awards luncheon

Sheriff Donnie Harrison hosted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office annual holiday luncheon on Saturday, Dec. 21. This luncheon is an annual tradition for Harrison as he looks forward to celebrating the deputies and the hard work of his staff throughout the year.

NHN receives $10,000 donation

Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN), a non-profit organization serving Putnam and Greene Counties, celebrated its success during the past three years with music, money, and memories at its semi-annual membership meeting in November.

‘19 of Greene’ holds book signing at GCHS

Greene County High School hosted a special and historic event on Dec. 9 in its lunchroom. Greene County alumni and famous college football writer Tony Barnhart hosted a signing for his new book, “ The 19 of Greene,” about the first integrated football team in 1970 at GCHS.

Santa cruises for Christmas on Sinclair

On a chilly night on Dec. 18, Santa set out with a group of Lake Sinclair enthusiasts to see the enchanting Christmas Cove. From singing Christmas songs to playing “I Spy” with the attendees in Christmas Cove, the journey was full of laughter, music, and holiday cheer.

Lake Oconee Elks Lodge spread Christmas cheer across four counties

Each year, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 makes Christmas donations to four charities within Greene, Putnam, Morgan, and Hancock counties. This year a $2,000 donation was made on Nov.
