The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) Chorus sang the national anthem before tipoff on Jan. 13 at the UGA vs. Tennessee men’s basketball game in Athens. The LOA Chorus consists of seventh-and eighth-grade students, including many in the school’s choral program for two years.

Safe & Secure Foundation closes ‘on a high note’

The Green County Safe and Secure Foundation is closing down after donating nearly a quarter of a million dollars contributed by local supporters to law enforcement, EMS, and other government entities, according to the man who was instrumental in creating the organization, Charles Middleton.

Festival Hall in Greensboro will open the third season of its Jazz Legacy Series on Feb. 8, with its presentation of The Jazz Legacy Project: Dave Brubeck, Time Out. Brubeck’s Time Out album helped him to achieve status among the most popular jazz artists of the late 1950s and throughout the ‘60s.
