Lake Oconee Elks present high school scholarships

This time of year means two things for local high school seniors: graduation ceremonies, scholarships, and awards from Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849.Each year, Elks Lodge 2849 awards six $1,000 Most Valuable Student (MVS) scholarships to seniors from local communities.

LOYA announces 2024 scholarship recipients

Lake Oconee Youth Alliance (LOYA) empowers underserved youth through mentoring and scholarship programs for post-secondary education. Since 2018, LOYA has provided undergraduate recurring scholarships to 67 HOPE and PELL-eligible area students attending in-state colleges and universities.

HSMC celebrates 30 years of service to community

The Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC) has provided shelter animals with homes since 1994. Located at 1170 Fairground Road in Madison, the shelter houses a wide variety of dogs and cats needing forever homes.The shelter recently reached its capacity for both dogs and cats.
