The next Second Harvest food distribution, held in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of Greene and Putnam Counties, is scheduled for 8 a.m. this Saturday at the First Methodist Church of Greensboro-Lake Oconee (north campus) in downtown Greensboro.
Volunteers are welcome and asked to arrive by 7:15 a.m. to help set up. Distribution should be finished by 9 a.m.
Last month, Second Harvest distributed food to 188 families and 330 people. Thanks go to members of the Lake Oconee Elks Lodge who show up every month to help those in need. The organization also thanked the Lake Oconee Humane Society team for its monthly pet food distribution.
Second Harvest also thanked Larry Carter and Kris Greenway for supporting a recent Children’s Backpack program, which provides ready-to-eat weekend meals placed in school backpacks every Friday during the school year for elementary school students from low-income families.
