Artists and photographers gathered at Barrel 118 in downtown Eatonton on Friday, Sept. 11, for the “Big Reveal” of the 10th annual Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes.
Dual Vision brings together local artists and photographers in a creative collaboration. Earlier this year, participating artists selected photographs and spent the summer creating original works inspired by the images. The artists were free to interpret their chosen photographs in their own style and medium.
More than 70 local artists are taking part in this year’s Dual Vision, creating a diverse collection of works inspired by photographs selected for the project.
The Big Reveal gave photographers their first look at how artists had interpreted their images. One by one, the original photographs were shown alongside the finished artworks, while artists briefly shared the ideas and inspiration behind their pieces.
The result ranges from close interpretations of the original photographs to completely personal artistic visions, created in a variety of styles and media.
The public will have a chance to see the complete exhibition when Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes opens at Barrel 118 on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. The opening reception is free and open to the public.
Following the opening weekend, the exhibition will move to The Artisans Village Art Gallery in downtown Eatonton, where the works will remain on display and available for purchase through the end of October.
