The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton is excited to provide a tropical-themed escape this fall with the return of A1A and its “Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show.” This outdoor concert offers a great excuse to enjoy the fresh air and the final few days of summer with a fun crowd while listening to fantastic music.

“We want to create a space outside where memories are created and the music, food trucks, and tasty drinks help to make that a reality at our A1A show,” said Taylor Surman, marketing director for The Plaza.

Devoted parrot heads and casual Buffet fans alike will enjoy this show filled with island vibes. While summer may be ending, A1A is sure to bring all of the good, carefree feelings of the summer season back, even if only for the night.

According to its website (a1a-live.com), A1A – The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show was founded in 1991. The next year, the band won a Jimmy Buffett Sound-Alike Contest for Margaritaville Records and the A1A ball started rolling. A1A has released five albums, played to countless high-profile clients around the world and continues to draw record crowds to its public performances.

Members from Jimmy Buffett’s band, including Greg “Fingers” Taylor, Mac McAnally, Michael Utley, Robert Greenidge, Peter Mayer, Nadirah Shakoor, and Tina Gullickson, have performed with A1A over the years.

In 2012, Buffett himself was instrumental in landing A1A a gig in the major motion picture release, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” The A1A band recorded Buffett’s classic, “Why Don’t We Get Drunk?” which was included in the movie and on the soundtrack released by Capitol Records.

Then in 2016, A1A made more waves when Buffett and McAnally approached them with a request to be Jimmy’s band during a private performance for The World Surf League at The Masters Open in Augusta.

“We are so looking forward to hosting A1A again this year,” said Susan Usry, executive director at The Plaza. “A1A is always a big hit with our patrons and provides a fun evening for all.”

A1A is set to play on The Plaza lawn on Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each for general admission and $50 for VIP, with both options available online at plazacenter.org. VIP table options feature eight seats at each round table near the front of the crowd.

Additionally, there will be onsite food trucks, and a full bar (with plenty of margaritas!), and as always, the A1A concert is a laid-back, bring-your-own chair, bring-your-own coolers, dance-the-night away kind of night. Call The Plaza at 706-923-1655 for details.
