The family of William Mitchell wishes to congratulate him on completing the Teach Gwinnett Program in Gwinnett County.
The Teach Gwinnett Program is an alternative preparation program for current teacher professionals of the Gwinnett County School system. Instead of the traditional four-year path to certification, the Teach Gwinnett program prepares participants in one to two years, based on state and local requirements.
The Teach Gwinnett Program is designed to significantly advance the professional development of candidates who attend and complete the required classes. It requires candidates to pass the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE), has prior classroom experience, hold a current position in the Gwinnett County Public School System that aligns with the candidate’s certification, and must be recommended by the principal of the candidates’ current school of assignment, which for Mitchell is the Buice Center, where he has been employed for the past three years.
The Buice Center is dedicated to ensuring all students in the ADAPT, BRIDGE, and STRIVE programs receive individualized support and services for a quality academic, behavioral, and vocational education necessary to become independent and productive members of their community.
Mitchell scored distinguished status with a 3.5 out of 4.0 on his final key assessment project. Because of this distinguished ranking, his work will be published as an example resource for future Teach Gwinnett Program cohorts.
Mitchell is a graduate of Greene County High School, where he was a resolute member of the Greensboro Dreamers Program. He continued his education at the Coastal College of Georgia in Brunswick, where he received his associate degree in Communications. Mitchell continued his education at Georgia State University of Atlanta, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs.
Now that Mitchell has successfully completed the Teach Gwinnett Program, he plans to continue his education by obtaining his master’s degree and doctorate in Public Administration, solidifying his plans for a successful future.
