HSMC hosts Pistons for Paws

The Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC) held its annual Pistons for Paws Charity Car Show fundraiser Sept. 16 in downtown Madison. The show included trucks, motorcycles, classic muscle cars and even a couple of hearses.

The winner of the best in show award went to Beth Bradley, who is one of the organizers of the event each year, said it turned out to be success despite some threatening skies early Sunday morning, leading some people to believe the event might be canceled.

However, not one to give up just because of a few dark clouds, Bradley held on and the skies cleared by late morning. Then the sun came out for a beautiful day in Madison.

“The crowd kept getting bigger and bigger as the show went on,” Bradley said. “We are so appreciative of all those who came in support of the Humane Society.”

In addition to the car show, HSMC also held a raffle and gave away items donated by local businesses. Countryside Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram donated use of a new Ram truck to haul items donated to HSMC, including laundry detergent, bleach, Purina dry puppy food, Purina cat chow, cat litter and Walmart gift cards.

All proceeds benefited HSMC, a non-profit, no-kill shelter that rescues and finds homes “for our furry friends.” HSMC (humanemorgan.org) is at 1170 Fairground Rd., Madison, and can be reached at 706-343-9977 or via email sent to info@humanemorgan.org.
