The Greene County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual awards dinner at Festival Hall on Sept. 20.
The Clayton Street Jazz Band performed throughout the evening, and the food was catered by Lamar Kersey of Kersey Catering.
Chamber President Mika Mills welcomed all to the awards dinner and announced the addition of 30 businesses that have joined the chamber. Top sponsors were also thanked: BankSouth, President’s Circle Sponsor, and the evening’s dinner sponsor, Dr. Rick Franks and Dr. Tyler Franks of Franks Chiropractic Life Center.
Pastor Mark Jones then gave the blessing before a buffet of fine food.
Keynote speaker Jim Baker of Baker and Lassiter, developers of Oconee Towne Center, which brought in Home Depot, TRU Hotel, Burger King and now coming, Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s, said they also plan to bring more businesses into Greene County.
The Chamber award candidates for 2022 were introduced by Terry Lawler and Vinece Pastor, and the awards and winners were:
• Heartbeat Award: Lake Oconee Dentistry, Drs. David and Patti Bradley
• Innovation Award: Lake & Local Boutique, owned by Kirsten Thompson and Kelly Parham
• Rookie of the Year Award: PedeGo Bikes, owner Mike Meehan
• UnSung Hero Award: Shirley Duvall, Greene County Farm Bureau
• Mickey Channell Citizen of the Year Award: Dr. Nicolas Chronos, cardiologist and internist of Lake Country Medical Group.
