Madison taps 40-year veteran to be interim police chief

Madison Police Chief William “Bill” Ashburn has retired, and the city has hired an interim chief while it searches for a new permanent replacement to run the police department.After 42 years in law enforcement, Ashburn recently announced his retirement.

Madison police officer praised for saving infant’s life

Madison Police Chief Bill Ashburn presented a Lifesaving Award to officer Mike Maxwell during the Sept. 12 city council meeting. According to Chief Ashburn, Maxwell was dispatched to a Bell Circle address in reference to a medical emergency involving a 2-week-old infant on the morning of May 2.
