The Greene County School System achieved a historic milestone on March 28 by organizing TEDxYouth: Beyond Limits, becoming the first school district in Georgia to host an official TEDxYouth event.

Schmuhl instills vision for rigor, unity, and joyful learning

A new superintendent of the Greene County School System was appointed last year to lead the county with renewed focus. Dr. Aaryn Schmuhl came to the system in July of 2025, having been vetted when the former superintendent, Dr. Chris Houston, retired.

GCHS hosts Q&A with head football coaching candidates

Greene County is still searching for its next head football coach, but the process may conclude later this week.The school hosted its final two candidates for a public question-and-answer session on Monday, drawing community members, parents, and school officials, including Dr. Aaryn Schmuhl.

The Greene County School System (GCSS) has named five 8th-grade students to this year’s class of REACH Georgia Scholarship recipients.

GCSS reports Milestones 2024-25 score improvements

Greene County School System recently revealed an increase in performance levels among “most grade levels” of its students. The data is measured based on the results of the 2024-25 Georgia Milestones assessments, which are required for grades 3-12.The district released a press release on Aug.

Schmuhl sworn in as GCSS superintendent

The Greene County Board of Education held a called meeting on July 10 to vote on the final approval of Dr. Arryn Schmuhl as the new GCSS superintendent. The BOE entered an executive session to discuss personnel matters, and Schmuhl was sworn in by Judge Russell Wall shortly after.
