Morgan County baseball players sign to play at next level

The Morgan County baseball team recently had three players sign letters of intent to play at the next level.On Nov. 12, seniors Ty Tillery, Caylem Richardson, and Hudson Reed held a signing ceremony in the school’s auditorium.

Diamond Dogs rack up All-Region honors

In 2025, the Morgan County baseball team had a successful postseason run, advancing to the Class AA state semifinals. Following the season, nearly a dozen Diamond Dogs were named to the All-Region team.

Diamond Dogs falter in Final Four

Franklin County knocked Morgan County out of the Class AA state playoffs last week with a 2-1 series win.The two teams split the first two games, with both ending in a walk-off. After falling behind early, the Dogs won game one 10-7 when Jack Whitlow hit a three-run bomb.

Two Diamond Dogs sign to play at college level

Earlier this month, Morgan County baseball’s Ben Atkinson and Skylar McCoy signed to play at the next level.Both seniors will remain in the Peach State. Atkinson is signing with LaGrange College, and McCoy is heading to Middle Georgia State University.

Dogs tame Tigers to advance

Top-seed Morgan County is returning to the Elite Eight after sweeping No. 16 seed Ringgold on May 1.The ‘Dogs (28-5) dominated No. 32 seed Butler, winning 19-0 and 20-0 in the first round on April 25.

Offensive explosion powers Diamond Dogs to 19-2

Morgan County has witnessed the baseball soaring off its bats in recent weeks.Literally. The Dogs (19-2, 7-0), ranked No. 1 in Class AA, have been hitting the ball exceptionally well lately.

Dogs ranked No. 1, but seek to be ‘better’

Morgan is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A by CoachesBox.com following a strong start to the 2025 season. The Dogs boast a 13-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the region after Tuesday’s road win over Rutland.
