SOFTBALL: Lady ‘Dogs season comes to an end in Cordele

The Morgan County softball team saw its 2022 season end two weeks ago at the Cordele Regional. The Lady Bulldogs entered the Class AAA playoffs as the No. 2 seed from Region 4-AAA. They started out the playoffs with a 10-0 run-rule victory over No. 4 seed Calvary Day.

In a game with a lot of back-and-forth drama, Ryan Henderson’s extra-inning theatrics powered Morgan County 7-6 past Prince Avenue Christian last Thursday. The game between the Bulldogs and the home Wolverines headed to the 10th inning with a 4-4 tie.

Morgan County defeated Monroe Area and Oconee County last week by one run each. The Lady Dogs improved to 3-1 overall after the two thrilling victories over two powerhouse Class AAA programs in the Lady Purple Hurricanes and Lady Warriors.

SOFTBALL: Defense is key for Lady Bulldogs as they prepare for season

Morgan County softball coach Doug Connelly is big on defense. In fact, the old saying “defense wins championships” resonates strongly with the Lady Bulldogs’ head coach. So far this summer, his players have been practicing hard over the last month by working on their defensive skillsets.
