Mat Dogs send eight to state traditional championships

Morgan County had a strong showing at last week's Class 2A sectional round of the traditional tournament.The Mat Dogs sent 13 grapplers to sectionals, as eight moved on to the state competition in Macon on Thursday.

Mat Dogs wrap up first part of season

The Morgan County wrestling team was busy wrapping up the first part of the season last week.On Jan. 13, the Mat Dogs hosted and placed first overall in the area’s teams duals tournament, earning them a spot at the Class 2A state championships in Columbus High School four days later.

Mat Dogs impress at area traditional tournament, send 13 to sectionals

Morgan County’s wrestling team had an impressive showing at the Area 4-AAA traditional tournament on Feb. 3.The Mat Dogs hosted the Academy of Richmond County, Salem, Harlem, Hephzibah, and Cross Creek, but blew away their competition.

Mat Dogs finish fifth at state duals

The Morgan County wrestling team recently finished fifth at the Class AAA state duals. The Mat Dogs traveled to Lumpkin County Friday to compete against seven other teams, going 3-2 over the weekend.

Mat Dogs dominate area duals, headed to state meet

Morgan County hosted the Area 4-AAA duals this past Friday for Senior Night. The Mat Dogs dominated the competition by sweeping the meet with wins over Hephzibah, Harlem, and Cross Creek.
