Morgan County baseball has a young nucleus of four sophomores that has helped the team succeed this year. Four sophomores – Ty Tillery, Hudson Reed, Drew Ainslie, and Davis Strickland – have contributed a lot to the program’s success.

Despite a disappointing end to the year, the Morgan County baseball team had a successful 2023 season. The Diamond Dogs also racked up a lot of postseason awards, with a lot of players landing spots on the All-Region 4-AAA First and Second Teams.

Diamond Dogs snap losing streak

Cherokee Bluff handed the Morgan County baseball team its fourth consecutive loss on Monday night. The Bears, who are ranked No. 1 overall in Class 4A, topped the Bulldogs 5-3 at Tracy Brown Field. However, Morgan County bounced back and snapped its losing streak with a 14-3 win over the Academy of Richmond County on Tuesday in the Region 4-AAA opener for both squads.

Most rising freshmen don’t even know what they want to be when they grow up, but Morgan County’s Ty Tillery seems to have things figured out. Not only has the 14-year-old, righthanded pitching prospect just finished his middle-school baseball career, he’s already received college interest and come to a decision on where to play at the next level.
