In an example of the phrase “every vote counts,” Putnam County’s District 2 county commission race was carried by Democrat challenger Richard Garrett by a margin of 1,087 to 1,069 for incumbent Republican commissioner Daniel Brown.

Ghosts come alive during Haunted Eatonton

Putnam County largely spared by Helene’s wrath

Tragically, at least 25 people in Georgia lost their lives to Hurricane Helene. At the same time, the far south and eastern side of the state suffered billions of dollars in total damage. As of Tuesday morning, approximately 350,000 people remained without electric power statewide.

Sculpture trail to lead the way for Eatonton

Public art will soon pop up all over Eatonton as the new sculpture trail backed by The Artisans Village, and the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce is almost ready for installation.The first piece is already in place.

The first-ever Bruzze Brewing Classic Car Show was a huge hit, based on the lack of available parking places just 30 minutes after the event began.

Dairy Festival signals summer for Eatonton

Summer is not official until June 20 this year. Still, the 63rd edition of the Putnam County Dairy Festival and Parade essentially signaled the season for a couple of thousand visitors to downtown Eatonton on Saturday.

Little new presented in Highway 44 widening

There was an armed guard at the Putnam County Administration building Tuesday evening, but there were no demonstrations, sit-down protests, gunfire, or food fights.

Last week’s Sunday at the Museum was more grand than usual at The Plaza Arts Center. Eleven local sports greats were honored on April 7 at the unveiling of the Sports Wall of Fame. These men were recognized for excellence in their fields and most importantly have important ties to Putnam County.
