PCCSS celebrates teamwork, leadership

The Putnam County Charter School System (PCCSS) recognized exceptional service, teamwork, and leadership during its recent board meeting, held at Putnam County Primary School (PCPS) on the same night students and teachers presented their annual Christmas show.

The Putnam County Charter School System (PCCSS) Board of Education held a pair of public education meetings on Monday about its Fiscal Year 2026 budget, with about a dozen citizens attending each time.

Schools, law enforcement hold intruder drills

Putnam County Charter School System, Eatonton Police Department, and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office held active shooter drills last week in every school, and they were pleased with the “outstanding” and “extraordinary” results.

GWM hosts PCHS Live and Drive Book Fair

As part of their curriculum for Project Success, a school-year-long service leadership class for seniors taught by Rebekah Esau at Putnam County High School, students conceived of, organized and presented the Live and Drive Book Fair Mar. 10, at Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) in downtown Eatonton.

War Eagle Games provide fun and recognition for competitors

Students from all four Putnam County Charter School System schools were at the sports stadium behind the middle school last Friday to participate in the inaugural War Eagle Games, designed specifically for differently abled athletes.

Putnam County schools have 42 new teachers

Students returning to school this month will see old friends—plus a healthy contingent of new faces among teachers and staff. Altogether, 42 of the 227 certified teachers (nearly 19 percent), in the Putnam County Charter School System’s four schools will be new to the district.

Law enforcement preparing for active shooter situations

With Putnam County students returning to school in about two weeks, local law enforcement officers underwent training Monday to learn more about school shootings, the type of person who might be a school shooter and to tour each of the county’s public schools and discuss their operational response.
