In a letter sent to the community last Friday, Morgan County Charter Schools Superintendent Dr. Virgil Cole announced his intent to retire early due to health reasons.Cole thanked the school system and community for the opportunity to serve and said his decision to retire early, on Feb.

During an all-school assembly Tuesday, Morgan County High School ag teacher Rachel Kinsaul was surprised with the $25,000 Milken Educator Award.Dubbed the “Oscars of teaching,” the Milken Educator Awards recognize the best teachers across the nation.

Morgan County Charter Schools Superintendent Dr. Virgil Cole will retire on May 31, 2025. In a letter to the Board of Education, staff, and community on Aug. 30, Cole announced his plans to retire, rather than seek a contract extension.Cole has been the school system’s superintendent since 2020.

Members of the Morgan County Charter School System recently gathered with many others at Bill Corry Stadium at Morgan County High School for a groundbreaking ceremony for its new field house. According to school officials, the project is set to be completed in October.
