The Morgan County Charter Schools Board of Education recently announced Dr. Susan Stancil as the sole finalist for the district’s next superintendent.

Achievements highlight Morgan County BOE meeting

The Morgan County Board of Education’s Feb. 10 meeting featured several achievements.First, the BOE recognized seventh grader Emerson Williams as the district spelling bee champion and fifth grader Beckett Cousins as runner-up. Williams will compete in the regional spelling bee on Feb. 22.

Livestock show program celebrates new home

The Morgan County Board of Education celebrated the grand opening of the Morgan Agricultural Learning Lab (MALL) on Nov. 18.The spacious building off Old Buckhead Road includes a classroom, barn space filled with stalls, and restrooms.

State champion teams shine at BOE meeting

Morgan County High School’s varsity volleyball and fast-pitch softball teams were recognized as Class AA state champions during the Morgan County Board of Education meeting last Monday.The teams made school history on Nov. 2 by winning their respective state championships on the same day.

Morgan County BOE talks plans for new primary, elementary complex

The Morgan County Board of Education shared the plans for a new primary and elementary school during a public hearing held Oct. 14 to phase out the current schools.Morgan County Primary School is the school system’s oldest campus, having been built in 1958.

Morgan County will soon see a literacy bus driving around the community. The Morgan County Board of Education unveiled the bus at its Sept. 9 meeting.What was once a rundown school bus is now a bright blue bus painted with images related to the theme “If You Give a Child a Book.

Morgan County BOE rolls back millage rate

During its meeting last Monday, the Morgan County Board of Education unanimously voted to roll back its FY24 millage rate to 13.098 mills. The BOE set the previous rate at 13.511 mills last year.A tax rate of 13.098 mills means that a Morgan County resident will pay $523.
