FOOTBALL: Titans finish last month of season strong

In just the second year of the Lake Oconee Academy football program, the Titans made strides of progress that could be seen in moments across the 2022 season. First-year head coach Patrick Stewart is thankful for the position he’s in and proud of the way his team competed against tough opponents.

MCCURLEY: The end is near

“The future is uncertain, but the end is always near.” – Jim Morrison The future is for sure, uncertain, for several area high school football teams heading into the month of November. This Friday marks the end of the regular season in GHSA and GIAA.

FOOTBALL: Titans defeat Patriots on Senior Night for back-to-back wins

For a program that just started at the beginning of last season, the Lake Oconee Academy football team has seen tremendous progress in its second year. The Titans (4-5) most recently defeated the Georgia School for Innovation and Classics Patriots (0-9) by the final score of 43-0.

FOOTBALL: Titans’ defense dominates against Irish Wolfhounds

The Lake Oconee Academy football team traveled to Duluth to take on the Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds last Friday night. The Titans’ defense came out firing on all cylinders and continued to do so the entire contest on the way to a 31-0 shutout victory.

FOOTBALL: Meder, Warriors spoil LOA’s plans for back-to-back wins

Cherokee Christian came to Greensboro last week and left with a victory. The Warriors defeated Lake Oconee Academy 34-14 at Tucker Field on Thursday, spoiling its hopes of winning two straight contests, which has only happened once before.

FOOTBALL: Titans topple Lions with late score

It was about as perfect an ending as you could have scripted for Lake Oconee Academy’s 15-14 win over Loganville Christian Academy last Friday night at Tucker Field.

FOOTBALL: Sampson leads Oglethorpe County 42-0 over LOA

The Oglethorpe County Patriots’ offensive attack was too much for Lake Oconee Academy to handle in a 42-0 rout. The Titans’ defense failed to stop Oglethorpe quarterback Will Sampson, who accounted for all six of the Patriots’ touchdowns. Their offense couldn’t muster up any momentum, either.

FOOTBALL: Titans regroup heading into Towns County

The Lake Oconee Academy football team was defeated by the George Walton Academy Bulldogs last Friday night with the final score ending at 42-6. The Titans’ defense made some important plays during the first half, but the Bulldogs’ rushing attack proved to be too much.

FOOTBALL PREVIEW - George Walton Academy at Lake Oconee Academy: Titans looking to get first varsity W

Lake Oconee Academy will play its first varsity game on Friday night against George Walton Academy. It will be a special night for the program and head coach Patrick Stewart, who is making his debut for the Titans while facing his former school and alma mater.

Most kids heading to high school in Georgia have a long-established football program to try out for, but the senior class at Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) never had that luxury.
