Greene County’s Laryous Burt scored his 1,000th point in a region win over Towns County on Jan. 17.The moment wasn’t too big for Burt, who reached the milestone as he sank a free throw in the fourth quarter against the Indians.

Greene County’s Laryous Burt did a little of everything in the Tigers’ 28-20 win over rival Putnam County last Friday.Burt had two touchdowns – a fumble return for six and a receiving score – and nine tackles, including a sack.

The Greene County boys’ basketball team (2-3) is starting to find its stride five games into the year. After knocking off Taliaferro County in the 2023-24 season opener, the Tigers dropped three consecutive games. They lost to Putnam County twice (76-69; 80-76) and Morgan County (43-39).
