The dispute between Lake Oconee Academy and the Greene County Board of Education concerning the renewal of LOA’s charter continued on Dec. 4 with the LOA board approving a version of the application that will be submitted to the state.

BOE approves charter; LOA to continue debate

Walking out of last week’s Greene County Board of Education (BOE) meeting, most in attendance believed the new charter for Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) was signed, sealed, and delivered – all negotiations complete; acknowledgments made by both Dr. Brad Bowling at LOA and Superintendent Dr. Chris Houston; renewed optimism for a new working relationship among the two to work together for the best needs of children in the county; sighs of relief to those at the meeting who understood the charter application was going to be well on its way to the Georgia Board of Education.

Charter negotiations nearing completion

The charter negotiations to complete a petition that ultimately goes to the Georgia Department of Education for Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) appears to be nearing completion with the Greene County Board of Education (BOE).

Two Greene County schools receive awards

Greene County Schools recently received awards for Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) and Greene County Primary School (GCPS). LOA was given a gold honor roll distinction in advanced placement (AP) programs at the school.
