Greensboro mayor nominates new city manager

Greensboro Mayor Corey Williams nominated Autron Hayes Monday night as the new city manager. Hayes is currently the city manager of Sylvester, a city in southwest Georgia.

Water, vaping moratorium top city council meeting topics

City annexations rely on aging water, sewer system

The city of Greensboro is getting bigger and bigger. The City Council Monday night approved annexation and rezoning requests for parcels of land totaling 94.4 acres along Meadow Crest Road.

Greensboro council rejects city manager candidate

On a 3-2 vote, Greensboro City Council Monday night rejected its first candidate for the open city manager position. Previous City Manager Jarvis Sims resigned under fire effective Jan. 31, so the city has been without a manager since then.

Greensboro council takes next step in annexation process

The Greensboro City Council held its first reading as part of the annexation process of property proposed to be the home of workforce housing during its Feb. 5 meeting. According to a story that appeared in the Feb. 2 issue of the Lake Oconee News written by correspondent Mark Engel, “Paladin Inc.

New development proposes workforce housing

The Greensboro Planning and Zoning Board last Thursday voted to recommend the city council approve what could be the first new housing community priced so teachers, nurses, first responders and workers in stores and restaurants can buy a house in the city where they work.

Greensboro council handles mix of issues

Another quick meeting for the Greensboro City Council Tuesday night with the best stuff apparently being saved for the closed executive session at the end of the meeting. Behind closed doors, council members discussed three personnel items, two real estate issues and one litigation matter.

Is 2024 pivotal year for Greensboro?

The first meeting of 2024 for the Greensboro City Council lasted five minutes Tuesday night. The only real business was the approval of a beer and wine license for the Feb. 8 Jazz Legacy Project at Festival Hall. Councilmembers also set a timetable for developing the 2025 city budget.
