LOA-BOE settlement teeters on brink of approval

The Greene County Board of Education unanimously voted in an open session on Dec. 15 to approve a new settlement offer, hoping to end a legal dispute with Lake Oconee Academy. “I feel ecstatic,” BOE Chairman Mike Lynch told the Lake Oconee News.

BOE, LOA cannot agree after signing agreement

Monday was day 810 in the lawsuit by Lake Oconee Academy against the Greene County Board of Education over the amount of money LOA receives per student enrolled at the charter school.

BOE gives thanks to voters for passage of ESPLOST

Fresh on the heels of a favorable ESPLOST vote for county schools, the Greene County Board of Education last week thanked the public for its support of the referendum and pledged to continue to improve the quality of education now and in the future.

LOA-BOE legal wrangling continues despite agreement

The Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors and Greene County Board of Education are continuing their chess match, despite the fact both parties have signed a draft agreement that would end LOA’s two-year-long lawsuit against the BOE over funding issues.

Draft agreement signed, LOA-BOE settlement near

Just 12 days after school officials announced a preliminary agreement to settle Lake Oconee Academy’s two-year-long lawsuit against the Greene County Board of Education, both boards have approved a draft agreement. It happened Monday night during a called meeting of the two boards.
