Gatewood students present ‘Stone Soup’ play

In front of audiences of teachers and students, and later parents, Gatewood Schools first- and second-graders performed “Stone Soup” on  Feb. 3, a play that teaches the value of sharing. In the story, hungry strangers come to a town where residents claim they have no food to share.

Gators lose to Lions, conquer Cougars at home

Gatewood boys basketball dropped its first region game 69-66 last Tuesday at Westminster Christian Academy in Watkinsville but rebounded nicely at home on Friday with a 54-47 victory over Piedmont Academy.

Lady Gators’ frustration continues

The Gatewood girls basketball team has had a rough go of it lately. The Lady Gators started region play two weeks ago and dropped consecutive games to Piedmont and Brentwood. They also suffered back-to-back region losses last week, making it four straight.

BASKETBALL: Three big wins prep Lady Gators for region ‘dog fight’

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team (14-4) kept rolling last week with three quality road wins. The Lady Gators dominated both Peachtree Academy (52-12) and Young Americans Christian (93-11), completing season sweeps of both the Lady Panthers and Lady Eagles.

BASKETBALL: Gators cruise into region play after 3-0 week

Don Keiser has the Gatewood boys’ basketball team (16-3) cruising into region play. The Gators went 3-0 last week and won all three contests by at least 34 points. Gatewood started last Tuesday by traveling to Covington to take on Peachtree Academy.

WRESTLING: Gatewood runner-up at Trinity Christian Invitational

The Gatewood varsity wrestling team competed against 10 other schools on Jan. 14, in the Trinity Christian Invitational in Dublin and finished as tournament runner-up after scoring 115 points.

BASKETBALL: Lady Gators have ‘dog fight’ on their hands

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team may have started a new year but its main goal remains the same. Lady Gators’ head coach Jordan Walters, who recently changed her last name from Camp after getting married, still wants her players to focus on the bigger picture, which is winning a region title.

BASKETBALL: Gators gear up for region play

The Gatewood boys’ basketball team is heading into this week with only three non-region games left. The Gators (10-3) will begin league play next Tuesday (Jan. 24) against Piedmont Academy.

BASKETBALL: Hot start for Gators under Keiser

The Gatewood boys’ basketball team is playing well for head coach Don Keiser so far this season. The Gators are currently 3-1 and have only four more games before the end of the year. They will then face a tough stretch following the winter break.

FOOTBALL: Gators are semifinals bound

No.5-ranked Gatewood traveled to Augusta on Nov. 18, for its opening playoff game against No. 4 on Augusta Prep Day (APD). The Gators returned to Eatonton with a 38-27 victory and a semifinals date with top-ranked Central Fellowship Christian Academy (CFCA), Friday night in Macon.
