A groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday marked the construction site for Greene County’s new elementary school, secured through a favorable result from last year’s ESPLOST vote.

Reporting on the front page of last week’s issue of the Lake Oconee News led many readers to believe that the Greene County Board of Education is removing the public comment period from future meeting agendas in an effort to entirely end public comment at BOE meetings. That was incorrect.

Dear Editor: This November, we have so much to be thankful for here at the Greene County School System, and I’d like to start by thanking our community for passing the ESPLOST education 1% sales tax renewal last week.

The Greene County School System’s 2022 Georgia Milestones test results show that at the elementary level, the system has closed the COVID gap and made significant improvements in addition.
