Greene County (0-1) suffered a rough start to its 2025 season, losing 42-15 to Putnam County in Eatonton last Friday.It was a frustrating start for new first-year head coach Darius Robinson, who was hired in February.

New Greene coach sets new standards for Tigers

The Darius Robinson era at Greene County will officially begin Aug. 15 when the Tigers visit Putnam County.Previously an assistant at South Georgia powerhouse Valdosta, Robinson was hired as Greene’s new head coach to replace Terrance Banks, who is now at Central Gwinnett.

Landon Garretson understands what it takes for a team to be successful.Garretson played his first two seasons of high school football at Class 5A’s Kell in Marietta. He then wanted a change of scenery and transferred to Greene County before the start of his junior year.

Darius Robinson took a chance on himself last fall when he only signed a six-month lease in Valdosta.At the time, Robinson served as an assistant coach under Shelton Felton at Valdosta High School, one of the state’s most prestigious football programs.

The Darius Robinson era of Greene County football has officially begun.The Tigers recently finished their first spring under Robinson, who replaced Terrance Banks earlier this year.Greene County began its spring camp schedule on April 23 by hitting the practice field.
