Overtime loss ends season for Bulldogs

Morgan County’s boys basketball team fell to Harlem in overtime Monday in the first round of the region tournament. The Bulldogs of Columbia County topped Morgan County’s Dogs 56-52 in a close battle to the end.

Hoop ‘Dogs not making excuses

Morgan County boys’ basketball has struggled as of late, losing five straight coming into this week. The ‘Dogs woes started in a non-region loss to Forsyth Central on Jan. 15.

‘Dogs benefiting from a pair of transfers

Morgan County head coach Cody Anderson has seen a significant difference this season in his program after adding senior transfers Ryan Moore and Jamauri Evans to the roster this past summer. Moore and Evans provide depth to a young team with a lot of underclassmen.

Dogs look to turn corner after tourney

Morgan County basketball enters the new year looking to turn a corner after going 2-1 at the Oscar Wimbley Classic, held at Lamar County High School last week. The ‘Dogs enter this week at 8-6. Locust Grove defeated Morgan County 57-51 on Dec. 28 behind a strong effort from a few key players.

‘Dogs finally finding footing

The Morgan County boys’ basketball team is finally finding its footing after a rough start to the season. Last week, the ‘Dogs won back-to-back games against Athens Christian (59-58) on Tuesday and Josey (75-41) on Friday before losing to rival Putnam County (70-55) on Saturday.

‘Dogs respond after early season adversity

After starting the season 2-0, the Morgan County boys’ basketball team faced some adversity in the next three games, losing to Mill Creek, Lambert, and Lanier, which are all schools in higher classes. The ‘Dogs defeated Oconee County and Lanier Christian before losing their next three games.

Brown, Thompson find home at Thomas University

Morgan County basketball’s Jaturi Brown and TJ Thomspon recently decided where to attend college. The two recently-graduated Bulldogs committed to Thomas University on Monday and signed their letters of intent to play basketball for the Nighthawks during a ceremony held two days later.

Morgan County basketball hosts summer youth basketball camp

This summer, the Morgan County basketball program has been trying to develop the skills of local players of all competition levels. Most recently, the Bulldog staff hosted a youth basketball camp during the first full week of June.

Peaster inks with The Winchendon School

Morgan County’s Harrison Peaster recently signed a letter of intent to continue his career at the next level. The now-graduated Bulldogs’ shooting guard is going to The Winchendon School in Massachusetts. He decided to go the preparatory school route because he values both education and sports.
