Last week, our state capital hosted Major League Baseball’s All-Star festivities, and I believe it was a big success.It would’ve been a whole lot better if the Braves didn’t suck and had more players competing, though.Regardless, the Home Run Derby was a fantastic start.

LOA coaches challenge players at padded camp

Lake Oconee Academy football wrapped up its summer schedule last week by competing in a padded camp.The Titans made the short drive to Eatonton on Tuesday and Thursday to participate in a camp at Putnam County High School alongside 10 other teams.

Spike Dogs host youth camp

New Morgan County High School volleyball head coach Alan Shultz had a chance to see what the future holds, as the team hosted a youth camp last week with a large number of kids in attendance.Nearly 100 girls packed the school’s competition gym to learn from their varsity and junior varsity peers.

Morgan County's Brody Jenkins commits to Army

Morgan County specialist Brody Jenkins has found his college home by recently committing to Army.A two-way player for the Dogs, Jenkins served as both a linebacker and long snapper, the position he expects to play at the next level. He chose the Black Knights over Auburn, Air Force, and Navy.

Lady Titans use summer to bond and develop

The Lake Oconee Academy volleyball team used the summer to strengthen its bond and improve its skills.The Lady Titans have practiced weekly on the hardwood and have also done several team-bonding activities.

Last week, when Georgia announced that quarterback Gunner Stockton would be one of three players representing the Bulldogs at SEC Media Days, it was a bit of a shock since he hasn’t been named the starter.

Georgia announces SEC Media Days players

The SEC will host its annual football media days next week in Atlanta, from July 14 to 17, at the College Football Hall of Fame and the Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park.The Bulldogs are set to attend on Tuesday, July 15, alongside players and coaches from Auburn, Tennessee, and Texas.
