VOLLEYBALL: Spike Dogs celebrate Senior Night

The Morgan County volleyball team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday before facing Oconee County. The Spike Dogs honored four seniors - Mackenzie Pitzer, Addy Christian, Presley Hill, and Briana Worley. Next week, they will start the post-season as the No. 1 seed from Region 4-AAA.

Edwards, Robinson lead Dawgs to run over Auburn

Georgia (6-0, 3-0 SEC) looked to its ground game this past Saturday against Auburn (3-2, 1-3 SEC), and a pair of unconventional characters powered its offensive attack.

Bulldogs to host Commodores after reclaiming No. 1

ATHENS -- A combination of a dominant Georgia performance against the Auburn Tigers and a host of other underwhelming games around college football last Saturday propelled the Bulldogs back to being the top-ranked team in the country.

FOOTBALL: Tigers topple Towns Co. for first region victory

The Greene County football team came out on top against the Towns County Indians 23-6 in Hiawassee last Thursday night, getting moved from Friday night due to inclement weather.

The Morgan County volleyball team (31-5) has only lost two matches since the beginning of September and ended the month with a ton of momentum heading into postseason play. The Spike Dogs defeated the Musketeers of Academy of Richmond County (ARC) in two straight sets on Sept.

BASEBALL: Schofield to continue career on the diamond at Georgia State

Morgan County senior Samuel Schofield has loved the game of baseball since he was a little boy and recently announced he will continue his career in college, playing for Georgia State. Schofield said he’s happy to finally have his decision nailed down.

FOOTBALL: Meder, Warriors spoil LOA’s plans for back-to-back wins

Cherokee Christian came to Greensboro last week and left with a victory. The Warriors defeated Lake Oconee Academy 34-14 at Tucker Field on Thursday, spoiling its hopes of winning two straight contests, which has only happened once before.

Smart: ‘We did not play well’

Top-ranked Georgia got a taste of reality Saturday on Faurot Field at Mizzou’s Memorial Stadium. The Bulldogs competed in a four-quarter clash with Missouri and came out on top with a 26-22 victory. But the Tigers led Georgia until late in the contest.
