After losing two tough consecutive region games, the Greene County Tigers made a statement when the team traveled to Washington-Wilkes for its final regular season game last Friday night.

After the Georgia Bulldogs and a deafening Sanford Stadium crowd silenced the critics with a convincing win over Tennessee last Saturday, Georgia fans now prepare to watch their defending national champions travel to Starkville, Miss., this weekend.

FOOTBALL: ‘Dogs lose region title to Harlem, will face Liberty Co. in first round

Harlem defeated Morgan County 34-17 last Friday to secure the top spot in Region 4-AAA. The loss left a bad taste in the Bulldogs’ mouths, however, their goals are still in front of them. Morgan County will enter the GHSA Class AAA playoffs as the No. 2-seed.

XC: Lady Dogs place 10th in Carrollton during state meet

The Morgan County girls’ cross-country traveled to Carrollton this past weekend for the GHSA Class AAA state meet, and the Lady ‘Dogs left with a 10th-place finish. MCHS girls’ head coach Erin Spinks was proud of her team on their performance.

VOLLEYBALL: Spike Dogs to face familiar foe in state final

After defeating Sandy Creek (36-17, 3-0) in four sets in its state semifinal match last weekend, the Morgan County volleyball team (35-6, 10-0) earned a trip to the LakePoint Sports Complex Friday in Emerson for the GHSA Class 3A State Championship game.

FOOTBALL: Fuller, Thompson help Bulldogs crush Cross Creek

Morgan County’s offensive tandem of quarterback Talan Fuller and wide receiver TJ Thompson hooked up four times in a 49-6 victory against Cross Creek on Friday night. Fuller completed 11-of-13 passes for 265 yards, a season-high four TDs and one INT.
