Lady Dogs defeat ARC, Salem; drop loss to Hephzibah

The Morgan County girls’ basketball team (17-5. 6-2 Region 4-AAA) picked up two league wins last week against the Academy of Richmond County (60-31) and Salem (45-42). The Lady Dogs entered the week riding a four-game winning streak, dating back to Jan. 17.

Titans top Taliaferro in region play

Allen proves to be driving force in Gators’ success

Matt Allen is putting together a stellar freshman campaign for the Gatewood boys’ basketball team. The 5-foot-11, 140-pound guard led the Gators in scoring last week in two key region victories over Piedmont Academy (60-54) and Brentwood Academy (63-52).

BASKETBALL: Bulldogs breathe new life in region play

Morgan County boys’ basketball completed its first go-round of region play last Friday, and new life is (literally) being breathed into the program heading into the final stretch of the season.

BASKETBALL: Lady Bulldogs continue to roll after clash with Cross Creek

The Morgan County girls’ basketball team has had an exceptional season so far and has kept it rolling after losing its first region game to Cross Creek last week. Since the loss last Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs have defeated Monroe Area and Salem, both in convincing fashion.

Two former Bulldogs clash in SEC hoops matchup

The matchup between Georgia and Vanderbilt at Stegeman Coliseum this past Saturday was a reunion for two former Morgan County boys’ basketball players. Jailyn Ingram and Tyrin Lawrence faced off against each for the first time in their college career.

BASKETBALL: Lady Titans fall to Towns County in first region loss

Over the weekend, the Lake Oconee Academy girls’ basketball team dropped its first region game of the season to the Towns County Lady Indians. The Saturday afternoon contest was close through all four quarters, but the Lady Titans were eventually defeated 52-49 in Hiawassee.
