The Greene County High School track and field program left the Region 8A-Public meet last week with plenty of medals in hand.
The Tigers brought home the gold as they finished first out of five teams at the meet with 162 total points, defeating secondplace Commerce by a dozen (148 points).
The Lady Tigers totaled 136 points and it was good enough for the silver medal. They placed second out of five teams behind Commerce, which finished with 145 points.
GCHS boys
The highlight of the day for the Tigers was Kzon Dennis, who scored 32 individual points for the Tigers. He placed first in the 3200-meter, 1600-meter and 800-meter races. Dennis also received the highest points award.
Doremus Alexander also shined in the 200-meter race, posting a time of 23.64 seconds and a fourth-place finish. He also ran a PR time of 54.38 seconds in the 400-meter race, which was good enough for another fourthplace finish.
Other top-four finishers: Quan Benford (800m, 4th); Devin Porter (1600m, 4th); Mason Glenn (3200m, 4th); Cameron Carmichael (110m hurdles, 3rd; High Jump, 4th; Triple Jump, 3rd); Zekih Woodruff (110m hurdles, 4th; 300m, 4th place); Alexander, Evan Andrews, Quindrell Chatman and Brian Mullens (4x100m relay, 3rd place); Alexander, Andrews, Mullens and Aveon Baugh (4x400m relay, 2nd place); Kevin Wynn (Shot Put, 4th place; Discus, 1st place); Radricus Monford (Shot Put, 2nd).
GCHS Girls
Aaliyah Rhodes dominated the short-distance races for the Lady Tigers, posting multiple PRs. She also finished third overall in the long jump events.
She produced a second-place finish in the 100-meter race with a time of 13.68 seconds. Rhodes also had a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter race with a 28.67 mark.
Other top-four finishers: Kimora Harper (Triple Jump; 2nd place); Sariah Armour (100-meter, 4th place); Quanas Benford (400-meter, 4th place); A’Nia Monford (100m hurdles, 3rd place; High Jump, 1st); Brianna Glave (300m hurdles, 4th place); Armour, Benford, Harper and Rhodes (4x100 relay, 1st); Benford, Taylor Lamar, Monford and Jardyn Winfield (4x200m relay, 3rd); Benford, Harper, Sherlyn Camacho and Katelyn Gaines (4x400m relay, 1st); Camacho, Nyla Lawrence, Melani Sotelo and Gaines (4x800m relay, 2nd); Tiejah Darby (High Jump, 3rd place)
