Several Titans earn postseason honors

Following a 20-9 campaign that included a third consecutive region championship and an Elite Eight appearance, Lake Oconee Academy baseball capped another strong season with multiple Titans earning All-Region and All-State honors.

Upon reaching the Elite Eight, LOA’s postseason run ended against Charlton County. Regardless, the Titans’ consistency throughout the spring was reflected by a long list of individual accolades.

Leading the way was Region Player of the Year Jon Harris Funderburke, who also earned First Team All-State honors as a utility player. Region Pitcher of the Year Ty Hiter earned Third Team All-State recognition after serving as one of the Titans’ aces alongside Funderburke throughout the season.

Evan Burton was named First Team All-Region in the outfield before earning First Team All-State honors. At the same time, Griffin Stanford collected First Team All-Region honors as an infielder and Third Team All-State recognition in the outfield. Braxton Bragg rounded out the Titans’ First Team All-Region selections as a utility player.

Lake Oconee Academy also placed Dylan Hiter (pitcher), Jake McDonald (infielder), and Tate Lipscomb (catcher) on the Second Team All-Region squad.

Head coach Mark Miller said the honors are a testament to the work his players put in long before the season began.

“I’m extremely proud of our young men who earned All-Region and All-State honors,” Miller said. “These recognitions reflect their hard work, dedication, and perseverance throughout the offseason and the season. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead with so many talented players returning for 2027, and our expectations and goals remain the same.”

The postseason honors cap another successful year for the Titans, who now have won three consecutive region championships and remain one of the state’s top Class A Division II programs. With much of this year’s award-winning core expected to return, Lake Oconee Academy will again enter the 2027 season with lofty expectations.
