Morgan soccer teams rack up All-Region honors

The Morgan County soccer programs continued to earn recognition for their strong 2026 campaigns, with multiple boys' and girls' players earning spots on the All-Region 2-2A teams.

The Bulldogs placed three players on the All-Region first team, led by goalkeeper Sylas Hulsey, forward Ashland Outlaw and midfielder Brandon Lopez.

Earning second-team honors for Morgan County’s boys were defender Matthew Oliver, midfielder Rocco Biscolgia, and forward Korbin Hegwood.

The Bulldogs also had six players receive honorable mention recognition: Larson Detienne, Eli Copeland, Thomas Martin, Charles Grady Oliver, Gus Hanson, and Rob Bennett.

Morgan County’s boys finished the season 9-8 overall and 7-3 in Region 2-2A play before suffering a heartbreaking first-round playoff loss to Franklin County.

Head coach Aaron Paul praised the group for its impact on the program.

“It’s been a fantastic group of players for us, all of them,” Paul said. “We will miss the seniors and what they have brought to our program over the past four years. Looking forward to our younger players stepping up and leading us next year and beyond.”

On the girls’ side, Morgan County had four players named to the All-Region first team: Chloe Cook, Katherine Smyrl, Brayden Burke, and Brynlee Burke.

Second-team honors went to Avery Altman, Molly Mockaitis, Katherine Tybor, and Ava Gaddy.

The Lady Bulldogs finished 12-7 overall and 7-3 in one of Class 2A’s toughest regions.

Morgan County’s girls followed up last season’s Final Four appearance with another deep postseason run, advancing to the Elite Eight before falling 2-0 to region rival and eventual back-to-back state champion Pike County.

Head coach Anne Stamps said the team’s chemistry and work ethic defined the season.

“This has been a special group of girls this year,” Stamps said. “They were fun to coach, and they were fun to be around. They were always ready to work every day. This team cheered for each other and held each other accountable to be their best.”
