Lady Dogs’ golf places second at region

The Morgan County girls’ golf team continued its success last week at the GHSA Area 1-AAA tournament, which was hosted at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, Ga.

The Lady Dogs qualified for the state tournament with a second-place finish behind Pierce County.

Both Appling County and Burke County rounded out the top four in Area 1-AAA.

Morgan County’s Reagan Folk led the way with a score of 77, followed by Lily Baker with a mark of 110.

Also, Clark Carroll (117), Victoria Sims (119) and Tallie Ray (129) all competed.

On the boys’ side, the Dogs placed fifth and failed to qualify for the state competition.

They were led by Ben Tanner (86) and Nolan Harris (88), respectively.

Barrett Adams (94), Will Thompson (99), Colby Brown (101) and Josh Tamasi (115) also followed in scoring.

The Lady Dogs will compete at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson, Ga. on May 16-17 in hopes of winning their first-ever state championship.
