Morgan County football’s Jaylen Elder and Draco Frazzitta are headed to play at the Division I level.
Elder and Frazzitta officially signed to their respective schools during a ceremony held on Dec. 4 at the school’s football facility. The two seniors will finish the school year and not enroll in college early.
Morgan County head coach Clint Jenkins has coached Elder and Frazzitta for the past four seasons. He’s proud they signed to play at the next level.
“It’s great to see hard work pay off for two great kids,” Jenkins said. “It was a pleasure to coach them both. Excited to follow their college careers in the next few years. I know they will make us proud.”
After a record-setting senior year at Morgan County, Elder is headed to play at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. He will join former Dog and teammate Antavious Elder, who plays for the Blazers.
Jalyn Elder had a breakout senior season. He was one of the top wide receivers in the state and nation.
Elder, a 5-foot-11 wideout, hauled in 94 passes for 1,715 yards and 23 touchdowns. As a senior, he set the single-season program records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns this year.
Elder’s recruitment exploded when he visited Georgia for a game in September. The Bulldogs didn’t offer the Madison native, but other schools paid close attention. Elder soon received several offers from UAB, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, UT-Chattanooga, and South Florida.
Elder broke down why he chose UAB over his other offers.
“I chose UAB because I felt welcomed,” Elder told the Lake Oconee News. “I have good connections with the coaches, and it felt like I was already a part of their team before I committed.”
Frazzitta is headed to the Naval Academy to continue his football career, where he will play on the offensive line. During his time with the Dogs, the 6-foot-6, 240-pounder played tight end and outside linebacker.
As a senior, Frazzitta caught seven passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 40 yards and two scores. Defensively, Frazzitta had 38 tackles, one sack, and five quarterback hurries.
Frazzitta had offers from the Navy, Cornell, Gardner-Webb, Georgia State, UAB, and Wofford.
Frazzitta is happy the recruiting process is over and is excited he is officially a Midshipman.
“The signing was everything I always imagined,” Frazzitta said. “I just want to thank everyone who supported me throughout my high school career [at Morgan County] and made my future possible.”
