Letter to the Editor: When will enough be enough?

Dear Editor,What is it going to take for GOP members/voters to finally realize what is happening to our democracy, what the current administration is doing to the fabric of our country? We are supposed to be the UNITED STATES, not the Blue States or the Red States.

Yarbrough: Not much peaceful about Nobel Peace Prize

Well, one thing you can be sure of is that I am in good company. It looks like I’m not the only one who got hosed by the Nobel Committee. It seems the president of the U.S. of A. was also passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize, even though he said he had stopped eight wars.

Stone: Zella Lee

Zella called me on a Friday night a long, long time ago, but I didn’t have time to talk. Judy and I were headed to Hemingway’s bar over on North Druid Hills Road to hear this band everyone was raving about.Zella probably understood that I was a young man in a hurry, so our conversation was brief.

Rich: The beautiful sisters

When I was in junior high, I discovered three beautiful sisters in high school. Connie, Sharon, and Vicki.Occasionally, I had a class in the high school hall and one of the beauties would float by while I, clinging to my books, stared, star-struck.

Yarbrough: The elephant in the room? It’s our Okefenokee

Don’t look now, but there is an elephant in the room. Well, it’s not exactly a room. It is our state government. And it’s not an elephant, either. It is our Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, which they want to pretend isn’t there and wish we would, too. Fat chance.

Rich: The dinner table

It’s just a memory now. And, perhaps I won’t recall it precisely because of the decades that have passed, but I will tell it as best I can.I was what people used to call a “late in life child,” so my siblings were much older.

Letter to the Editor: Being more purposeful

Dear Editor,I expect I’m not alone in having one thought lead to another that has been lingering quietly in the back of my mind. Lately, I’ve found myself preoccupied with food waste, and I recently happened to watch Stanley Kramer’s 1960 film “Inherit the Wind.
