In his letter to this newspaper, Ace Jones expresses his bewilderment at “Why Georgia Republican lawmakers [are so] fixated on gender and private parts” ( Lake Oconee News, April 11, 2025).
It is because Democrats, in their unwillingness to ban trans boys from girls’ sports, want to ignore the undeniable differences between boys and girls.
There is substantial evidence of these differences in sports. Several years ago, two of the very best women golfers tried unsuccessfully to compete on the men’s PGA tour. They were just not strong enough. Biology. Trans boys competing in women’s swimming and basketball have demonstrated how even one trans boy can disrupt the competitive landscape of an entire sport.
Biology.
The NCAA and all major sports leagues have banned the use of performance-enhancing drugs because they provide users an unfair competitive advantage. Trans boys competing in women’s sports offer them with an unfair competitive advantage — their bodies.
Our Republican lawmakers are justified in banning trans boys from girls’ sports.
