Dear Editor,
Dear Editor, As bombs fell on Iran, former MAGA loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene reminded the public of what was promised on rally stage after rally stage: “No more foreign wars. No more regime change.”
Trump, Vance, and much of the current administration campaigned on putting America First, not entangling us in yet another overseas conflict.
Few have studied and defended Donald Trump’s political playbook more faithfully than Greene. Her pointed reminder bears repeating: “We thought the victory won in 2024 would be finally time to put America First. And we thought that meant the common American man and woman and their children - not the elites.”
To be clear, Iran’s leadership has posed serious problems for decades. One can argue that regime change might ultimately benefit global stability. But if that was the objective, why now? Why not during Trump’s first term, when the same leadership was in power?
And why does Trump claim to be doing this for the murdered protestors in Iran when our own American protestors in Minnesota were being shot and otherwise bullied by ICE agents just weeks ago?
I fear Americans are fooling themselves if they think the Iranian War is anything other than another move to distract us from problems at home, most notably Trump’s 38,000 mentions in the Epstein Files. His bombs dropped on Iran only after Hillary and Bill dropped their own bombs inside sworn depositions in Chappaqua, New York, last week. The Clintons wanted the depositions televised; Trump’s cronies did not.
Makes you wonder why, doesn’t it?
“I’m not going to start wars. I’m going to stop wars,” Trump declared in his last campaign victory speech.
Plans, it seems, are a’changing.
