Letter to the Editor: Kemp unfairly attacked by Trump

Dear Editor,

This is an open letter to Governor Brian Kemp following former President Trump’s August 3rd rally in Atlanta.

Governor Kemp, You’ve been a good governor of Georgia. After a challenging period during COVID, you led our state to record budget surpluses and attracted some of the most innovative companies in the world, creating thousands of new jobs. Many agree that Georgia is one of the best states for business in the country.

However, at a rally in Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, former President Trump overlooked your accomplishments, mocking you as “Little Brian,” calling you “disloyal,” blaming you for his election interference charges, and arguing that Georgia would have better crime and economic numbers if you were no longer governor. He even disparaged your wife, a woman we all respect.

Yet, your response was simply, “My focus is on winning this November and saving our country from Kamala Harris and the Democrats.”

Are you even from Georgia, Brian?

Around here, when someone attacks us or our families, we fight back. Your response was timid at best. I understand your political stance, but should it come at the cost of your reputation and your family’s honor?

You need to stand up to this bully. Take a page out of Geoff Duncan’s playbook and endorse a candidate who will respect you professionally and never attack your family personally - Kamala Harris.
